According to sources from The Athletic, Jimmy Butler, the star player of the Miami Heat, is believed to have suffered an MCL injury during Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Philadelphia 76ers. This happened when he was fouled in the first quarter of the match and took a hit while going for a layup in transition, colliding with Kelly Oubre Jr. from Philadelphia. Butler seemed to be in considerable pain and discomfort and was slow to get back up.


Despite the injury, he continued playing for 40 minutes and scored 19 points, although his performance was not his best as he shot just 5 of 18 from the field. He also managed to get five steals and five assists. After the game, Butler revealed that he would undergo an MRI on his knee the following day. He added that he felt extremely limited as the game went on and believed that he hurt the Heat more than he helped them.


Miami Heat, who reached the NBA Finals last season but lost to the Denver Nuggets, will now face an elimination game against the Chicago Bulls on Friday.
